Hello, and welcome back. It has been a few weeks since my last post. I have been busy preaching and teaching Sunday School, and I have also been working on getting my first business up and running. It is called Cain Web Design, and you can view my website at: www.cainwebdesign.com
Things are beginning to calm down a little. I had a flurry of new projects right when I started and I have gotten them all caught up but one. So while I am happy to be able to breathe a little I am still always looking for more work. So, if you know anyone needing a website for their church or small business, call me.
Today I just want to stop and take a fresh look at a familiar portion of Scripture.
I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! Galatians 1:6-8 NASB
It should come as no surprise based on what Paul says here as to why we defend the gospel with such vigor and refute false teaching. It goes without saying that the gospel is the central issue at stake in the historic Christian faith based on the historic Jesus, who is in fact the Christ, the Messiah. So when things like Mormonism, or Catholicism, or Jehovah's Witnesses rear up and present a different gospel, which as Paul instructs, really isn't another gospel for there is only one true gospel, we naturally step up and call a spade a spade.
All Christ followers, all Christians, must defend the gospel that is clearly presented in the Bible. Any attempt to change, add to, or take away from it is an attempt to pervert it and make it into something it is not. As Paul points out, the ones who were pushing this false gospel were doing so in an effort to disturb the brethren and distort the gospel of Christ.
Satan knows he does not have to guarantee anyone's ticket to hell. That card is already punched from day one. We are all sinners and have fell short of the glory of God. He however, works tirelessly to distort and pervert the true saving gospel of Christ. For in this is where he feels that he has his small victories. However, there is no victory in any of his schemes for Christ has already claimed the victory over sin and death at the cross.
Paul concludes his thought by saying that he is so adamant that there is only one gospel that even if he himself, or an actual angel from heaven were to preach any gospel other than Christ's they are to be accursed!
Paul takes this issue very seriously and we should too. The gospel of Christ is the only saving gospel and Jesus is the only way by which a sinner can be made right with God the Father.
Thank you for reading and God willing we will pick up our audio series on Calvinism where we left off in Unconditional Election very soon.
