I recently took a trip over two days to celebrate my 11 year wedding anniversary. My wife and I went to Asheville to visit the Biltmore as well as travel the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a beautiful drive. I plan on returning at some point to ride more of it. We also went up to Mount Mitchell which is the highest point east of the Mississippi River. Beautiful scenery to be sure.
What is interesting is considering that while Mt. Mitchell is around 6,684 feet above sea level if you go out to Colorado Springs where Pike's Peak is then you realize that 6,684 is not as high as you might have thought as Pike's Peak is over 14,000 feet above sea level. It is higher than the tree line where the trees can no longer grow. None the less I really enjoyed the travel up and down the mountain especially on the winding roads. Our escape got a workout to be sure.
I am attaching some of the pictures here for you to see a little of what we saw. I am amazed at God's handiwork in His creation. Even in the state that the earth and we are in now with the curse of sin active it is still just amazing at the beauty of God's creation. The earth screams out as evidence to the existence of the Creator God who lovingly gave His Son to pay the penalty for our sins.
